Dušan Rodić Gerrit Rietveld Akademie graduate, current resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam
would like to invite you to the launch of the m2 campaign at OT301 this Friday, 12th of October, starting at 20h. Located at: Overtoom 301, Amsterdam
The m2 campaign is a crowd funding appeal, through which he wants to finance the project of covering 420m2 of this building with soil and a sedum mat. what is sedum?.
The green roof will insulate the building and drastically reduce it's energy costs. This sedum mat is just a first step in creating a permaculture garden on top of OT301, a not-for-profit, bottom-up cultural space in the city of Amsterdam. ot301
Recently he got 50% of financial support approved by the city of Amsterdam, but to realize this project he has to finance the other 50%.
The idea is to find 420 people who will buy 420 m2 of this roof. One m2 costs €35
With the purchase of a m2 owner will get a card as a proof of ownership and thereby be able to enjoy and grow food in this great urban garden.
The idea of creating food production on the roof of this building comes from his aspiration to enforce the autonomy of art communities, by providing them with self-sustainable systems. Unlike many grassroots activists his projects aren’t motivated by ideology or politics, but an attempt to promote, preserve and protect the freedom of expression and intellectual critique. By providing artistic communities with resources to sustain themselves he hopes to offer them financial independence. This way they are liberated from the whims of society and are able to exist autonomous.
Event starts at 21h and the entrance is €7,
Gerrit Rietveld Akademie students, can enter for free, meet Rodic and discuss his work one hour before the event, from 20h.
