Alumni Lora Rounevska and Mariana Tantcheva part of group exhibition

The first group exhibition in the Netherlands featuring works by 14 artists from Bulgaria.

While around the world protests are growing because of uncanny feelings towards inequality, poverty and uncertain future, EAST of BEST shows generation of artists who have always lived and dealt within a state of uncertainties. The presented artworks are investigations into legacies of the present referring to politics, culture, memory and identity as well as aesthetic discourse. Showing art and artistic discourse without geographical and ideological borders, the exhibition aims at building meaning within a global context.

The exhibition EAST of BEST is curated by KOLEKTIF * and the director of ROODKAPJE gallery Eric van Hartigh. The selection of works aims to offer a comprehensive view of the contemporary art scene in Bulgaria, showing some of the most active artists and presenting the current artistic discourse.
