A residence permit is required by foreign students wishing to study in the Netherlands. You can apply for a residence permit once you have arrived in the Netherlands and have taken the steps described below.

To whom does it apply?

A student from an EU/EEA country is not obliged to obtain a residence permit. Nevertheless, the Gerrit Rietveld Academy advises you to obtain one, as you may require a residence permit for various government and private agencies. Once you have all of these documents, the Gerrit Rietveld Academy can submit the application for you. So deliver these documents to the International Office as soon as possible. The International Office is located on the first floor of the Rietveld building, near the Student Office.
